Paul Smith’s College to Host SUNY Plattsburgh’s Student-Run Late Night for the Planet

Program will Feature Paul Smith’s College Student 和 Scientists 和 will Focus on Climate Change

保罗·史密斯,N.Y. – Late Night for the Planet, a SUNY Plattsburgh student-run show will record an episode at Paul Smith’s College 访问or Interpretive Center on Wednesday, 4月5日晚上7点. 题为 Late Night for The Planet: Connecting Watershed Science 和 Nordic Skiing through Climate Change, the episode will feature three Paul Smith’s College guests—two scientists from the college’s Adirondack Watershed Institute 和 a nationally ranked Paul Smith’s College Nordic skier.

  • Brendan Wiltse of the Paul Smith’s Adirondack Watershed Institute is a senior research scientist, 湖泊学家, photographer 和 outdoor enthusiast who studies impacts to waterways from road salt, climate change 和 other stressors.
  • Lija Treibergs is a research associate at the Paul Smith’s Adirondack Watershed Institute 和 recently returned from a deployment to Antarctica where she conducted field-based research on climate change impacts on sensitive ecosystems.
  • Aiden Ripp is a Paul Smith’s College student 和 nationally ranked athlete on the college’s national champion Nordic team who recently competed in the FISU World University Games 和 Winter Olympic Trials. Ripp will talk about the impacts of climate change on winter sports 和 recreation.

关于 Late Night for the Planet

Late Night for the Planet is a SUNY Plattsburgh student run talk/game show that uses entertainment, games 和 humor to raise awareness about local, regional 和 national environmental topics. Late Night for the Planet’s mission is to foster community dialogue about important topics, enhance environmental awareness through entertainment, 和 build bridges across our community. A team of SUNY Plattsburgh students: Christopher Fisk, Kayleen斯奈德, 麦肯纳Kaleta, 泰勒汤, Caley Doell 和 Gabriel Thatcher develop each show, conduct live interviews 和 facilitate audience participation games with guests. The project is produced by Dr. Curt Gervich, professor in SUNY Plattsburgh’s Center for Earth 和 Environmental Science. Late Night for the Planet launched in 2019. When not on tour, Late Night for the Planet occurs monthly at Olive Ridley’s in Plattsburgh. Future events at Olive Ridley’s are scheduled for March 29 和 April 26. The project is funded by The Lake Champlain Basin Program.
